The School and Facilities

The Present School

The school has 12 classrooms in 4 main blocks. Our library is situated in our new Creative Technology Centre. In this Centre we also have Cooking facilities, a mini Science lab, and an Art room. Our computer suite is through a sliding door beside the library. In the Centres passage way we have 3 smaller rooms for interview space and small group teaching.

In the administration block we have the staffroom, reception area, managements office, principals office and teacher work area.

There is a heated swimming pool, which is administered by the community.
Attached to the hall we have our gym/hall, which is a real asset to the school. Our school grounds are extensive and include large sports fields. We have a child centred adventure playground and fitness track, which are used constantly.

Surrounding all of this we have beautiful trees, which help to create a caring atmosphere for all who belong to the school.

Information and Communication technology

Fairfield school has an Apple Mac-based network providing quality computer access in all classes and workspaces. The school uses a computer suite for intensive teaching while class-based computers allow on going ICT to occur.
The school makes use of airport technology to allow children and teachers to access the network via laptops.

Cultural Activities

Fairfield School is proud of its well-developed cultural programmes. These programmes provide opportunities for children to be involved:

• Weekly music instruction with a specialist instructor
• Guitar groups
• Rock band

Physical Education

Fairfield children like to do well in all sports activities. We provide opportunities for children to participate in the following activities:

• High quality netball teams
• Talented touch teams
• Competitive miniball teams
• Weekly soccer competitions
• Inter school cricket and rugby games

To support the children with these high quality sports programmes we have specialist teachers coming into the school to work with our Year3-8 children.
